Air Jordan 6 “UNC” 2017
The Air Jordan 6 “UNC” is inspired by Michael Jordan’s days as a shooting guard at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Chapel Hill. Jordan distinguished himself right from the start with Dean Smith’s Tarheels. He was named ACC Freshman of the Year, and he was a participant in the national championship game in 1982. The Air Jordan 6 “UNC” grabs the spotlight just like the young MJ did during his college days at UNC.
This eye-catching sneaker has a midnight black, university blue and white colorway that I think puts out too much heat for the basketball court. The Air Jordan 6 UNC’s dark hue makes it look almost elegant but with an edge. A simple design is this shoe’s calling card, but I’ve spotted a few subtle features that make the Air Jordan 6 UNC a must-cop sneaker for your throwback collection.
The Air Jordan 6 UNC is covered with a soft, black nubuck leather upper. The sneaker’s pure black background is in sharp contrast with the highlights of blue and white at its midsole. The Air Jordan 6 UNC has the classic jumpman emblem and the “Air” logo stitched on the heel in black. Its icy soles are stamped with a bold blue jumpman and hits of black. Details that give this shoe that something extra include the sneaker’s blue-trimmed pull tab at its back and the blue lace locks that rock the black jumpman. The 1991 date is also embroidered on the inside of the shoe’s tongue in honor of Jordan’s MVP performance at the NBA Finals that year. I can still see MJ sticking his tongue out when he nailed a particularly noteworthy shot.
The blue and white color combination is a nod to UNC’s school colors, and it makes the Air Jordan 6 “UNC” a distinctive sneaker option when I want to dress to impress. The Air Jordan 6 “UNC” can enhance a completely casual look when paired with some distressed, acid-washed jeans or slim-fit, gray sweatpants. I also think that they could up the style factor with some tapered-leg black jeans for a more monochromatic look.
